The term chick flick is slang, often derisive, for a movie which is designed or considered to appeal mainly to women. These type of movies generally focus on romance or relationships or humiliation of men. Many romantic comedies or films with many female characters are labeled "chick flicks". Critics of the term have pointed out that movies aimed specifically at men are not labeled so derisively-- though many such movies have elements thought to appeal to women as well in order to attract a larger audience of viewers.
