Historiky samozřejmě namíchne zdejší definice 21. století, které podle tohoto listu začíná 1. ledna 2000 – jakkoliv je rok 2000 ještě součástí století dvacátého. Vítězem ankety The New York Times se stal Parazit, následován Mulholland Drive a Až na krev. Důstojná trojice. Dostalo se i na Mad Maxe a jeho Zběsilou cestu, Temného rytíře, Potomky lidí nebo Společenstvo Prstenu. 

Mezi režiséry vede Christopher Nolan, který má ve stovce jako jediný hned pět kusů, včetně Temného rytíře (28.), Oppenheimera (65.) a Interstellaru (89.). Paul Thomas Anderson následuje se čtyřmi snímky, jeho Až na krev se umístilo v top trojce, Nit z přízraků na 25. místě a Mistr na 42. Všechny tři filmy osobně pokládám za nejlepší dramata tohoto století. Quentin Tarantino zabodoval třikrát, jeho Hanebný pancharti si vyřezali pozici blízko čela, konkrétně na 14. místě, Tenkrát v Hollywoodu se ocitlo na 44. a první Kill Bill na 61. místě. Ani jedna režisérka nemá v žebříčku více než jeden snímek.

Samozřejmě, podobná anketa dá nakonec téměř vždy vzniknout poměrně předvídatelnému a konzervativnímu výsledku. V mnohém jsou zajímavější a osobitější volby jednotlivých zpovídaných filmařů.
